Brittaney Fortwendel
Hi, I’m Brittaney — owner of Studio Upgrade and a lifelong movement professional shaped by a family legacy in fitness.
I grew up in the Lafayette/West Lafayette area of Indiana, where my parents owned fitness centers, step aerobics studios, and Pilates studios. Movement wasn’t just something we did — it was the rhythm of our home. In the early 2000s, I traveled with my mom to Chicago while she completed her Pilates certification. Watching her passion, focus, and joy during that time sparked something in me that would later become my life’s work.
I earned my first personal training certification in 2006 and completed my Pilates certification in 2007. From there, I trained clients in my parents’ facilities as well as at Purdue University, helping students, athletes, and community members build stronger, healthier bodies. In 2014, I accepted a Pilates Director position with a corporate fitness company, expanding my leadership experience and deepening my understanding of program development.
In 2016, I added a nutrition certification to my credentials to create a more holistic, well-rounded approach for my clients. I then stepped into the Personal Training Director role for 2017 and 2018 before returning to my true passion — hands-on client work — as a Pilates Director in 2018.
When COVID-19 hit in 2020, it became clear that it was time for a new chapter. I opened Studio Upgrade with a vision to create a space that blended movement, science, and mentorship. That same fall, I completed Level 1 of my NeuroKinetic Therapy® training, which profoundly shaped the way I approach the body and redefined my teaching philosophy.
From this work emerged the Studio Upgrade Method™ — a unique integration of Pilates, functional movement, nervous system understanding, and corrective strategies. Today, it exists not only as the foundation of our studio training but also as a full, comprehensive Pilates certification for professionals seeking deeper mastery.
Studio Upgrade is more than a studio — it’s the culmination of a lifetime of learning, a family legacy, and a passion for helping people move, heal, and thrive. I’m grateful you’re here and excited to support you on your journey.

Donna Richardson
Donna began her fitness journey in 1999 as she became familiar with strength training, cardio, and step aerobic classes.
By 2006 her family joined her as members of a larger family centered corporate gym. Her family enjoyed spending time developing their foundation for a healthy lifestyle.
Drawing on the foundation of fitness, Donna met some friends who enjoyed distance running, hiking, biking, and stair climbs. Through these activities she learned how to plan and train to reach goals and accomplish difficult tasks.
In 2012 Donna was preparing for a couple of major undertakings and started with a personal trainer to prepare for the events. Training with a professional introduced Donna to the value of having a relationship with a trained professional in health and fitness.
Looking for a balance to her intense physical activity Donna began taking Pilates in 2014 and yoga 2015. Both practices have become integral to her health and fitness journey.
Wanting to expand and deepen her yoga practice, Donna enrolled in a 200 hour Vinyasa Yoga training in 2022 and realized her desire to teach. Completing Studio Upgrade Lvl 1 and apprenticing with Studio Upgrade. Donna is excited to share her philosophy of healthy movement for life inspired by Joseph Pilates.
